What causes this issue?

You have overwritten the previous EAN manually. Since EANs are normally
used for identification within logistics, changing it may have
far-reaching consequences for management of the material.

System Response

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

Make sure you really want to change the EAN.
