  • What causes this issue?

No ABAP PSS port has been maintained for the selected reference ship-to
    party.

    System Response

If you are using the IDoc Copy Management tool, a PSS port must be
assigned to every reference ship-to party in the partner profile using
    the standard function module WDL_COPY_LOG.
The IDoc Copy Management tool functions in a way that IDoc-creating
applications create and output IDocs for reference stores. The port must
also be assigned to these references. This way, the outbound IDocs are
logged for the tool and can be copied via transaction WDL_COPY_FILL to
the targets (ship-to parties) that are maintained in the system.

    How to fix this error?

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

You have to maintain a PSS port for the selected ship-to party in the
partner profile for the corresponding message type. You need to create
a PSS port using the function module WDL_COPY_LOG in the partner
profile. You then select this as a port for the reference in the partner
    profile.

Smart SAP Assistant

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message W_1003 - No ABAP PSS port has been entered for reference ship-to party & ?

Certainly! Here's a detailed explanation for the SAP error message:

    SAP Error Message:

W_1003 No ABAP PSS port has been entered for reference ship-to party &

    Cause:

This warning message occurs during the processing of IDocs or EDI messages in SAP when the system tries to determine the communication port (PSS port) for a partner (specifically a ship-to party in this case) but cannot find an assigned ABAP PSS port in the partner profile or related configuration.

    • PSS port: In SAP, a PSS port is used to define the communication channel for sending or receiving IDocs.
    • The system expects a PSS port to be assigned to the partner (ship-to party) to know how to route the IDoc.
    • If no PSS port is maintained for the partner, the system cannot send the IDoc or process the message correctly, hence the warning.

    When does it occur?

    • During outbound IDoc processing or EDI message generation.
    • When the system tries to send an IDoc to a partner but the partner profile lacks the PSS port assignment.
    • Typically seen in scenarios involving shipping or delivery processing where the ship-to party is involved.

    Solution:

    1. Check Partner Profile:

      • Go to transaction WE20 (Partner Profiles).
      • Find the partner (ship-to party) mentioned in the message.
      • Verify if the outbound parameters include a valid PSS port.
    2. Maintain PSS Port:

      • If missing, assign the correct PSS port to the partner.
      • The PSS port defines the communication method (e.g., file, tRFC, XML HTTP, etc.).
    3. Check Port Configuration:

      • Use transaction WE21 to check or create the required PSS port.
      • Ensure the port is correctly configured for the communication channel you intend to use.
    4. Verify Partner Determination:

      • Sometimes the partner determination procedure might be incorrect or incomplete.
      • Check if the correct ship-to party is determined and linked to the partner profile with the PSS port.
    5. Reprocess the IDoc:

      • After maintaining the PSS port, reprocess the IDoc or retry the transaction.

    Additional Information:

    • This is a warning (W_) message, so processing might continue, but the IDoc may not be sent or processed as expected.
    • The message text usually includes the partner number (ship-to party) in place of the "&" symbol.
    • Proper partner profile and port maintenance are critical for smooth EDI/IDoc communication.
    • If you are unsure about which PSS port to assign, consult your Basis or EDI team.
    • Sometimes, this error can also indicate a missing or incorrect partner determination step in the sales or delivery process.

    Summary:

    Aspect Details
Cause No ABAP PSS port assigned to the ship-to party in partner profile for IDoc processing.
Solution Assign the correct PSS port in transaction WE20 for the partner; verify port in WE21.
Related Tcodes WE20 (Partner Profiles), WE21 (Ports), WE02/WE05 (IDoc monitoring)
