  • Message class: VW - Shipment Processing Output

  • Message number: 264

  • Message text: Output type & is already assigned to another planning system

  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

You tried to assign an output type to a transportation planning point /
an external transportation planning system. The output type is already
used for another system. An output type can, however, only be used for
    an external transportation planning system.

    System Response

The transaction can not be completed with this entry.

    How to fix this error?

Use an output type that is not yet being used for an external
transportation planning system. This output type should be a copy of
output type 'TPS0'. Do not forget to enter this output type in the
output determination procedure for shipping output (e.g. see reference
    procedure 'V10TPS').
    &HINTS&
If you do not assign an output type to a transportation planning
system, then automatic transmission of delivery changes will not be
made to this system, even if the output determination procedure is
    maintained.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message VW264 - Output type & is already assigned to another planning system ?

The SAP error message VW264 indicates that the output type you are trying to assign is already linked to another planning system. This typically occurs in the context of configuring output types for planning or logistics processes, where each output type must be uniquely assigned to a specific planning system.

    Cause:

    1. Duplicate Assignment: The output type you are trying to use is already assigned to a different planning system in the configuration settings.
    2. Configuration Error: There may be a misconfiguration in the output type settings or planning system settings.
    3. System Migration or Changes: If there have been recent changes or migrations in the system, it could lead to conflicts in output type assignments.

    Solution:

    1. Check Existing Assignments:

      • Go to the configuration settings for output types in the relevant module (e.g., Sales and Distribution, Production Planning).
      • Verify if the output type is indeed assigned to another planning system. You can do this by navigating to the relevant configuration path (e.g., SPRO -> Logistics -> Sales and Distribution -> Basic Functions -> Output Control -> Output Determination -> Output Types).
    2. Reassign Output Type:

      • If the output type is assigned to a different planning system and you need to use it for your current system, you may need to either:
        • Change the assignment of the output type in the configuration to the desired planning system.
        • Create a new output type that can be assigned to your planning system.
    3. Consult Documentation:

      • Review SAP documentation or help files related to output types and planning systems to ensure you are following the correct procedures.
    4. Check for Customizations:

      • If your organization has custom developments or enhancements, check if any custom logic is affecting the assignment of output types.
    5. Contact SAP Support:

      • If you are unable to resolve the issue, consider reaching out to SAP support for assistance, especially if this is a critical issue affecting business processes.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: You may use transaction codes like SPRO for configuration, NACE for output type configuration, or VV21 for maintaining output types in Sales and Distribution.
    • Output Type Configuration: Familiarize yourself with the output type configuration process, including the settings for conditions, access sequences, and output determination procedures.
    • Planning Systems: Understand the different planning systems in your organization and how they interact with output types.

By following these steps, you should be able to identify the cause of the VW264 error and implement a solution to resolve it.
