  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

The change of the checking group you have carried out changes the
summarization of requirements, that is, if you have already created
    <GL:individual_requirements>individual requirements records</>, you now
    create <GL:summarized_requirements>summarized requirements records</>,
with the new checking group and the other way around.

    System Response

This change prevents a uniform view of the data, since from that moment
individual as well as summarized requirements records exist for one or
more materials at the same time.

    How to fix this error?

Check whether requirements records already exist for this material. If
this is the case und you want to ensure a uniform view of your
datasets, you can either select or create a different checking group
with the same summarization, or you convert the already existing
datasets. In this case, please contact your consultant.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message VV007 - Changing the checking group leads to a change in the summing up of reqs ?

The SAP error message VV007, which states "Changing the checking group leads to a change in the summing up of reqs," typically occurs in the context of material requirements planning (MRP) or inventory management when there is an attempt to change the checking group of a material. This error indicates that the change in the checking group will affect how the system sums up the requirements for that material, which can lead to inconsistencies in planning and inventory management.

    Cause:

    1. Change in Checking Group: The checking group is a key parameter that determines how the system processes requirements for a material. Changing it can alter the way requirements are aggregated or calculated.
    2. Existing Requirements: If there are already existing requirements (like purchase orders, production orders, etc.) for the material, changing the checking group can lead to discrepancies in how these requirements are summed up.
    3. Configuration Issues: There may be configuration settings in the material master or MRP settings that are not aligned with the new checking group.

    Solution:

    1. Review Requirements: Before changing the checking group, review the existing requirements for the material. Ensure that there are no open purchase orders or production orders that could be affected by the change.
    2. Change in a Non-Active State: If possible, make the change when the material is not actively being used in any transactions. This can help avoid conflicts.
    3. Consult Documentation: Check the SAP documentation or help files related to the checking group and its implications on requirement summation.
    4. Use Transaction Codes: Use transaction codes like MM02 (Change Material) to make the necessary changes, but ensure that you are aware of the implications.
    5. Testing: If you are in a development or testing environment, try changing the checking group and observe the behavior before applying it in the production environment.
    6. Consult with SAP Support: If the issue persists or if you are unsure about the implications of changing the checking group, consult with SAP support or your internal SAP team for guidance.

    Related Information:

    • Material Master Data: Understanding how the material master data is structured and how the checking group interacts with other fields is crucial.
    • MRP Settings: Familiarize yourself with MRP settings and how they relate to the checking group.
    • Change Management: Implement a change management process to handle changes in material master data to avoid disruptions in operations.
    • Documentation: Keep documentation of any changes made to the checking group and the rationale behind them for future reference.

By carefully considering the implications of changing the checking group and following the suggested solutions, you can mitigate the risk of encountering the VV007 error in SAP.
