SAP Error Message - Details

  • Message type: E = Error

  • Message class: VO - W&S: Rough workload forecast + picking wave

  • Message number: 211

  • Message text: Unit of measure & is not assigned to a UoM load category

  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

You have entered a document item that contains a material with the unit
    of measure &V1&.
For this unit of measure, the system tried to determine a
    <DS:DE.METYP>unit-of-measure load category</> for a workload
calculation. However, the system could not find any allocation.

    System Response

The system cannot determine a workload because there is no
    unit-of-measure load category.
Data cumulation in the information system at the level of the
unit-of-measure load category for the rough workload forecast in the
warehouse or the picking waves in shipping is not possible.

    How to fix this error?

If the materials with unit of measure &V1& are not included in the
workload calculation, nothing needs to be done.
If these are to be included, however, contact your Customizing
specialist or enter the missing allocation in Customizing for the rough
    workload forecast.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message VO211 - Unit of measure & is not assigned to a UoM load category ?

    SAP Error Message:
VO211 - Unit of measure & is not assigned to a UoM load category

    Cause:

This error occurs in SAP Logistics Execution (LE) or Warehouse Management (WM) when the system tries to process a unit of measure (UoM) that has not been assigned to a Unit of Measure Load Category in the system configuration.

    • The UoM you are using in a transaction (e.g., delivery, transfer order, packing, etc.) is not linked to any UoM load category.
    • The system requires that every UoM used in loading or packing processes be assigned to a load category to correctly calculate volumes, weights, or capacities.
    • Without this assignment, the system cannot determine how to handle the UoM in loading or packing calculations, hence the error.

    Explanation:

In SAP, UoM Load Categories are used to group units of measure for loading and packing purposes. For example, you might have load categories for weight, volume, or quantity. Each UoM must be assigned to one of these categories so that the system can interpret the UoM correctly during warehouse or transportation processes.

    Solution:

    1. Check the UoM Load Category Assignment:

      • Go to transaction SPRO ? Logistics Execution ? Shipping ? Basic Shipping Functions ? Define Unit of Measure Load Categories.
      • Or directly use transaction OVL2 (depending on SAP version) to maintain UoM load categories.
    2. Assign the UoM to a Load Category:

      • Identify the UoM causing the error (e.g., EA, KG, L, etc.).
      • Assign this UoM to the appropriate load category (e.g., weight, volume, quantity).
      • Save the configuration.
    3. Check the Material Master:

      • Ensure that the UoM used in the transaction is consistent with the material master data.
      • Sometimes, the error arises if a non-standard UoM is used that is not maintained in the system.
    4. Test the Transaction Again:

      • After the assignment, retry the transaction that caused the error.
      • The system should now process the UoM without error.

    Additional Information:

    • This error is common in shipping, packing, and warehouse management processes where the system needs to calculate loading units.
    • The UoM load category helps the system understand how to convert or handle different units during packing or loading.
    • If you have custom UoMs, always ensure they are assigned to a load category.
    • Sometimes, this error can also appear if the configuration transport is missing or incomplete in the target system.

    Summary:

    Aspect Details
Error VO211 Unit of measure & is not assigned to a UoM load category
Cause UoM used in transaction is not assigned to any UoM load category in system configuration
Solution Assign the UoM to an appropriate UoM load category via SPRO or relevant customizing
Transaction SPRO ? Logistics Execution ? Shipping ? Basic Shipping Functions ? Define UoM Load Categories (or OVL2)
Notes Ensure consistency with material master and transport configuration if applicable
