What causes this issue?

The planning scope alternative consists of multiple MBOMs that result in
the splitting of planning scope. Therefore, you are not allowed to
select <LS>Save and Reload </>to save the planning scope alternative.

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.
