  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message VMP_MSG326 - Cannot display routing nodes; routing version is in released status ?

Certainly! Here's a detailed explanation for the SAP error message:

    SAP Error Message:

VMP_MSG326: Cannot display routing nodes; routing version is in released status

    Cause:

This error occurs because you are trying to display or edit routing nodes for a routing version that is already released. In SAP, once a routing version is released, it is considered final and cannot be changed or displayed in certain transaction modes that allow editing or detailed node display.

Routing versions in released status are locked to prevent accidental changes, ensuring production processes remain consistent and controlled.

    Explanation:

    • Routing in SAP defines the sequence of operations for manufacturing a product.
    • Each routing can have multiple versions.
    • Versions can have statuses such as created, released, or obsolete.
    • When a routing version is released, it is locked for editing.
    • Trying to display routing nodes in a mode that requires the routing to be in a modifiable status triggers this error.

    Solution:

    1. Display routing in display mode:

      • Use transaction codes like CA03 (Display Routing) to view the routing nodes.
      • Ensure you are not trying to edit or change the routing in this mode.
    2. If you need to edit the routing:

      • You cannot edit a released routing version directly.
      • You must create a new routing version or change the status of the routing version if allowed.
      • To create a new version:
        • Use transaction CA02 (Change Routing).
        • Enter the routing number and create a new version (e.g., increment the version number).
        • Make your changes in the new version.
        • Release the new version when ready.
    3. If you need to display routing nodes for a released routing:

      • Use the appropriate display transactions.
      • Avoid using transactions or modes that require the routing to be in a modifiable status.
    4. Check authorization:

      • Sometimes, authorization issues can cause similar errors.
      • Ensure you have the correct permissions to display or change routings.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes:

      • CA01 – Create Routing
      • CA02 – Change Routing
      • CA03 – Display Routing
      • CA51 – Routing Header

    • Routing Statuses:

      • Released – Routing is finalized and locked.
      • Obsolete – Routing is no longer valid.
    • SAP Notes and Documentation:

      • Refer to SAP Help Portal for detailed routing management.
      • Check SAP Notes for any system-specific issues related to routing status.

    Summary:

    • Cause: Trying to display or edit routing nodes for a routing version that is already released.
    • Solution: Use display transactions (CA03) for released routings or create a new routing version (CA02) to make changes.
