  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message VK264 - No archiving from applications with document check; more than & documents ?

The SAP error message VK264 indicates that there is an issue with archiving documents in the system due to a document check constraint. Specifically, it means that the number of documents that are being processed exceeds a predefined limit, which prevents the archiving process from proceeding.

    Cause:

The error occurs when the number of documents that are eligible for archiving exceeds the threshold set in the system. This is often related to the configuration of the archiving process in SAP, where certain checks are in place to ensure data integrity and compliance with business rules.

    Solution:

To resolve the VK264 error, you can take the following steps:

    1. Check Configuration Settings:

      • Review the archiving configuration settings in your SAP system. You may need to adjust the parameters that define the maximum number of documents allowed for archiving in a single run.
    2. Increase Document Limit:

      • If appropriate, consider increasing the limit for the number of documents that can be archived at one time. This can usually be done in the customizing settings for the archiving object you are working with.
    3. Batch Processing:

      • If the number of documents is too high, consider breaking the archiving process into smaller batches. This can help you stay within the limits set by the system.
    4. Check Document Status:

      • Ensure that the documents you are trying to archive are in a status that allows for archiving. Sometimes, documents may be locked or in a state that prevents them from being archived.
    5. Consult Documentation:

      • Refer to the SAP documentation for the specific archiving object you are working with. This can provide insights into the limits and requirements for archiving.
    6. Contact SAP Support:

      • If you are unable to resolve the issue through configuration changes or if you need further assistance, consider reaching out to SAP support for guidance.

    Related Information:

    • Archiving Objects: Each archiving object in SAP has its own set of rules and configurations. Familiarize yourself with the specific archiving object you are working with.
    • Transaction Codes: You may use transaction codes like SARA (Archive Administration) to manage archiving processes and settings.
    • Performance Considerations: Be mindful of system performance when adjusting archiving settings, as larger batches may impact system resources.
