VCH_L2A_CHECKS138
- The dependency uses a characteristic type not supported by AVC ?The SAP error message VCH_L2A_CHECKS138 indicates that there is a problem with the configuration of characteristics in the Advanced Variant Configuration (AVC) module. Specifically, it suggests that a dependency is using a characteristic type that is not supported by AVC.
Cause:
- Unsupported Characteristic Type: The error typically arises when a dependency (like a constraint or a rule) is referencing a characteristic that is not compatible with AVC. This can happen if the characteristic is defined in a way that AVC does not recognize or support.
- Incorrect Configuration: The characteristic might be incorrectly configured in the variant configuration settings, or it may not be intended for use in AVC.
- Legacy Characteristics: If the characteristic was created in an older version of SAP or in a different context (like standard configuration), it may not be compatible with AVC.
Solution:
- Check Characteristic Types: Review the characteristics used in the dependency that is causing the error. Ensure that they are of a type that is supported by AVC. Typically, characteristics used in AVC should be of type "Characteristic" and not "Text" or other unsupported types.
- Modify Dependencies: If the dependency is using an unsupported characteristic, you may need to modify the dependency to use a different characteristic that is compatible with AVC.
- Reconfigure Characteristics: If necessary, reconfigure the characteristics in the variant configuration to ensure they are set up correctly for AVC usage.
- Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for AVC to understand which characteristic types are supported and how to properly configure them.
- Testing: After making changes, test the configuration to ensure that the error is resolved and that the dependencies work as expected.
