Message text: Constraints use set-based semantics for multi-value charecteristics
LO-VC uses set-based semantics for multi-valued characteristics in
dependencies and value-based semantics in constraints. Advanced Variant
Configuration unifies this behavior and uses set-based semantics in all
object dependencies.
As a result, the comparison operations of multi-valued characteristics
behave differently in LO-VC and AVC.

VCH_L2A_CHECKS103
- Constraints use set-based semantics for multi-value charecteristics ?The SAP error message VCH_L2A_CHECKS103 indicates that there is an issue with the constraints defined for multi-value characteristics in the context of variant configuration (VC). This error typically arises when the system encounters a situation where the constraints are not properly defined or are not compatible with the set-based semantics required for multi-value characteristics.
Cause:
- Improper Definition of Constraints: The constraints for the multi-value characteristics may not be defined correctly. This can happen if the constraints are trying to use individual values instead of sets of values.
- Incompatibility with Set-Based Semantics: Multi-value characteristics require that constraints be defined in a way that respects the set-based logic, meaning that the constraints should be able to handle multiple values simultaneously.
- Data Inconsistencies: There may be inconsistencies in the data related to the characteristics or the values assigned to them.
Solution:
Review Constraints: Check the constraints defined for the multi-value characteristics. Ensure that they are using set-based logic. For example, instead of defining constraints that apply to single values, define them in a way that they can apply to sets of values.
Modify Constraints: If you find that the constraints are not set-based, modify them to use the correct syntax and logic. This may involve using operators that are compatible with multi-value characteristics.
Check Characteristic Values: Ensure that the values assigned to the multi-value characteristics are valid and consistent. If there are any discrepancies, correct them.
Testing: After making changes, test the configuration to ensure that the error no longer occurs. You can do this by creating a new configuration or modifying an existing one to see if the constraints are now being evaluated correctly.
Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for specific guidelines on defining constraints for multi-value characteristics in variant configuration.
Seek Expert Help: If the issue persists, consider reaching out to SAP support or consulting with an SAP expert who specializes in variant configuration.
