The SAP error message V2704 indicates that a mandatory custom field (denoted as &1) has not been filled in the delivery schedule for a specific item (denoted as &2). This error typically arises in the context of sales and distribution (SD) processes, particularly when dealing with delivery schedules or sales orders that have custom fields defined as mandatory.

    Cause:

    1. Mandatory Custom Field: The error is triggered because a custom field that has been defined as mandatory in the system configuration is not populated. This could be due to:

      • User oversight during data entry.
      • System configuration changes that have made a previously optional field mandatory.
      • Data migration issues where the custom field was not populated correctly.
    2. Configuration Issues: The field may be set as mandatory in the configuration settings of the sales document type or item category, and the system is enforcing this requirement.

    1. Fill in the Mandatory Field:

      • Navigate to the delivery schedule or sales order where the error occurred.
      • Locate the mandatory custom field (identified as &1 in the error message) and ensure it is filled with the appropriate value.
    2. Check Configuration:

      • If you have access to the configuration settings, verify the settings for the sales document type or item category to see if the custom field is indeed set as mandatory.
      • If the field should not be mandatory, consider changing its status in the configuration.
    3. User Training: Ensure that users are aware of the mandatory fields and the importance of filling them out during data entry.

    4. Data Migration Review: If this issue arose during a data migration process, review the migration scripts or processes to ensure that all mandatory fields are being populated correctly.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: You may need to use transaction codes like VA01 (Create Sales Order), VA02 (Change Sales Order), or VL01N (Create Outbound Delivery) to access the relevant documents.
    • Custom Fields: If you are unsure about the custom field's purpose or how to fill it, consult with your SAP functional team or the person responsible for the custom field's configuration.
    • SAP Notes: Check SAP Notes for any known issues or additional guidance related to this error message.
    • Debugging: If the issue persists and you have the necessary authorizations, you may need to debug the program to understand why the field is not being populated or validated correctly.
