V1816
- Assembly process only possible for engineer or cust. make-to-order prod. ?The SAP error message V1816 indicates that the assembly process is only possible for engineer-to-order (ETO) or customer make-to-order (MTO) products. This error typically arises when you attempt to perform an assembly process on a product that is not configured to be produced in this manner.
Cause:
- Product Configuration: The product you are trying to assemble is not set up as an engineer-to-order or make-to-order item in the system. This means that the item is likely configured as a stock item or a make-to-stock item, which does not support the assembly process in the same way.
- Order Type: The order type you are using may not be compatible with the assembly process. For example, standard production orders may not allow for assembly processes that are specific to ETO or MTO.
- Master Data Settings: The material master data or the bill of materials (BOM) may not be correctly configured to allow for assembly processing.
Solution:
Check Product Type: Ensure that the product you are trying to assemble is indeed configured as an engineer-to-order or make-to-order item. You can do this by checking the material master data in SAP.
- Go to the material master (transaction code MM03) and check the MRP type and production type.
Review Order Type: Verify that the order type you are using is appropriate for the assembly process. If necessary, create a new order type that supports assembly for ETO or MTO products.
Adjust Master Data: If the product should be an ETO or MTO item, you may need to adjust the material master settings or the BOM to reflect this. Ensure that the relevant fields are set correctly:
- MRP Type: Set to appropriate types like 'E' for ETO or 'M' for MTO.
- Production Type: Ensure it is set to allow for assembly processing.
Consult Documentation: Review SAP documentation or consult with your SAP support team for specific configurations related to assembly processes and product types.
User Authorization: Ensure that the user attempting to perform the assembly has the necessary authorizations to execute the assembly process for ETO or MTO products.
Related Information:
By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the V1816 error and successfully perform the assembly process for the appropriate products.
