SAP Error Message - Details

  • Message type: E = Error

  • Message class: V1 - Verkaufsbelegbearbeitung

  • Message number: 578

  • Message text: Structure explosion for item & is not possible

  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

You have tried to carry out a structure explosion within an exploded
structure, but this is not possible.
For example, the system finds one component and one item category
within an exploded BOM that leads to another BOM explosion in document
processing. This is not possible because you can only explode a multi-
level BOM and the explosion can only start with a document item that
has not been generated by the previous explosion.
Similar problems occur when combining BoM explosion and product
    selection.

    System Response

The system does not carry out the lower-level explosion.

    How to fix this error?

Configure the settings in Customizing, so that sub-items do not lead to
another explosion. It might be that the wrong item category was
    determined for the sub-item.

This error is related to the way SAP handles the structure of items, particularly when it comes to product variants or configurable materials.

    Cause:

    1. Configuration Issues: The item may be a configurable material, and there might be issues with the configuration profile or the dependencies defined for that material.
    2. Missing Master Data: Required master data for the item, such as characteristics or classes, may be missing or incorrectly set up.

    5. Dependencies: If there are dependencies defined for the configurable material, they may not be satisfied, leading to the explosion failure.

    Solution:

    1. Check Configuration Profile: Review the configuration profile for the item to ensure that it is correctly set up and that all necessary characteristics are defined.
    2. Verify Master Data: Ensure that all required master data (like classes and characteristics) for the item is correctly maintained in the system.
    3. Review Item Category: Check if the item category assigned to the item is appropriate for the type of item being processed. You may need to change the item category if it is not suitable.
    4. Examine Sales Document Type: Ensure that the sales document type being used supports the item structure. You may need to use a different document type if necessary.
    5. Check Dependencies: If the item is configurable, review the dependencies to ensure they are correctly defined and that all required conditions are met.
    6. Consult SAP Notes: Look for any relevant SAP Notes that may address this specific error or provide additional guidance.
