USMD2290
- Entities of type &1 cannot be deleted; choose 'Remove' ?The SAP error message USMD2290 indicates that you are trying to delete entities of a specific type (denoted by
&1
in the message) in the SAP Master Data Governance (MDG) application, but the system is preventing the deletion. Instead, it suggests that you should choose the 'Remove' option.Cause:
The error typically occurs due to the following reasons:
- Data Integrity Constraints: The entity you are trying to delete may have dependencies or relationships with other entities, which prevents its deletion to maintain data integrity.
- Configuration Settings: Certain configurations in the MDG system may restrict the deletion of specific entities.
- Authorization Issues: The user may not have the necessary permissions to delete the entity.
- Business Rules: There may be business rules defined in the MDG that prevent the deletion of certain types of data.
Solution:
To resolve the error, you can take the following steps:
Use the 'Remove' Option: Instead of deleting the entity, use the 'Remove' option as suggested by the error message. This typically marks the entity for removal without actually deleting it from the database, which can help maintain data integrity.
Check Dependencies: Investigate if the entity has any dependencies or relationships with other entities. If it does, you may need to remove or update those dependencies first.
Review Configuration: Check the configuration settings in the MDG system to see if there are any restrictions on deleting the specific type of entity. You may need to consult with your SAP MDG administrator or configuration team.
Authorization Check: Ensure that you have the necessary authorizations to perform deletion or removal actions. If not, contact your system administrator to grant the required permissions.
Consult Documentation: Refer to the SAP documentation or help resources for more information on the specific entity type and any related business rules that may apply.
Contact Support: If the issue persists and you cannot determine the cause, consider reaching out to SAP support for further assistance.
