- Drag and drop to this position not possible; Use cut and paste ?The SAP error message USMD2246, which states "Drag and drop to this position not possible; Use cut and paste," typically occurs in the context of the SAP Master Data Governance (MDG) application when users attempt to rearrange or move items within a data model or structure using drag-and-drop functionality. This error indicates that the system does not support the drag-and-drop operation for the specific context or position where the user is trying to perform the action.
Cause:
- Context Restrictions: The position where the user is trying to drag and drop an item may not allow such operations due to the underlying data model or configuration.
- Data Model Limitations: Certain data models or structures in SAP MDG may have restrictions on how data can be manipulated, which can prevent drag-and-drop actions.
- User Permissions: The user may not have the necessary permissions to perform the drag-and-drop operation in the specified area.
Solution:
Use Cut and Paste: As the error message suggests, instead of dragging and dropping, use the cut and paste functionality. This can typically be done by:
- Selecting the item you want to move.
- Using the "Cut" option (often found in the right-click context menu or in the toolbar).
- Navigating to the desired position and using the "Paste" option to place the item there.
Check Data Model Configuration: If you frequently encounter this issue, it may be worth reviewing the configuration of the data model to ensure that it allows for the desired operations. Consult with your SAP MDG administrator or technical team for assistance.
Review User Permissions: Ensure that you have the appropriate permissions to perform the actions you are attempting. If necessary, contact your system administrator to verify and adjust your user roles.
Consult Documentation: Refer to the SAP MDG documentation or help resources for specific guidelines on data manipulation within the application. This can provide insights into any limitations or best practices.
SAP Support: If the issue persists and you believe it is not due to user error or configuration, consider reaching out to SAP support for further assistance.
