It is not possible to insert an entity at the position you selected in
the hierarchy. This can be due to one of the following reasons:
You want to move an entity in the hierarchy. The higher-level node of
the original position in the hierarchy is in change request &V1&, but
the higher-level node of the new position in the hierarchy is in change
request &V2&. It is therefore not possible to move the entity.
You want to insert an entity in the hierarchy. However, the entity is
already assigned to change request &V1& as a higher-level node, but the
higher-level node of the place of insertion is assigned to change
request &V2&. It is therefore not possible to insert an entity in the
    hierarchy at this position.

    System Response

    How to fix this error?

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message USMD2200 - Action not possible; different change requests for source and target ?

The SAP error message USMD2200, which states "Action not possible; different change requests for source and target," typically occurs in the context of SAP Master Data Governance (MDG) when there is an inconsistency between the change requests associated with the source and target data objects during a data transfer or replication process.

    Cause:

This error usually arises due to the following reasons:

    1. Different Change Requests: The source and target data objects are linked to different change requests. In MDG, data changes are often managed through change requests, and if the source and target are not aligned to the same change request, the system will not allow the action to proceed.

    2. Data Locking: If the data in the source or target is locked by another process or user, it may lead to this error.

    3. Inconsistent Data States: The source and target data may be in different states of processing, leading to a mismatch.

    Solution:

To resolve the USMD2200 error, you can take the following steps:

    1. Check Change Requests: Verify that both the source and target data objects are associated with the same change request. If they are not, you may need to align them by either creating a new change request or modifying the existing ones.

    2. Release or Complete Change Requests: If the change requests are in a draft state, consider releasing or completing them to ensure that they are processed correctly.

    3. Data Locking: Check if the data is locked by another user or process. If so, you may need to wait until the lock is released or contact the user who has locked the data.

    4. Review Data Consistency: Ensure that the data in both the source and target systems is consistent and in a valid state for the operation you are trying to perform.

    5. Consult Logs: Check the application logs for more detailed error messages or warnings that could provide additional context for the issue.

    6. SAP Notes and Documentation: Look for relevant SAP Notes or documentation that may address this specific error. SAP frequently updates its knowledge base with solutions for common issues.

    Related Information:

    • SAP Master Data Governance (MDG): Understanding the MDG framework and how change requests work is crucial for troubleshooting this error.
    • Change Request Management: Familiarize yourself with how change requests are created, processed, and managed within SAP MDG.
