USMD2196
- Entity type &1 has different values in the selected rows ?The SAP error message USMD2196 indicates that there is a discrepancy in the values of a specific entity type across the selected rows in a data management or data migration context, particularly when using the SAP Master Data Governance (MDG) application. This error typically arises when you are trying to perform an operation (like saving or validating) on multiple records that are expected to have consistent values for a particular field or attribute, but they do not.
Cause:
The error occurs due to one or more of the following reasons:
- Inconsistent Data: The selected rows contain different values for a field that is expected to be uniform across those rows. For example, if you are trying to update a set of records that should all have the same "Status" or "Category," but they have different values, this error will be triggered.
- Validation Rules: There may be validation rules defined in the system that enforce consistency for certain fields across multiple records.
- Data Model Configuration: The data model may have been configured in such a way that certain fields are required to have the same value across selected records.
Solution:
To resolve the USMD2196 error, you can take the following steps:
- Identify the Inconsistent Rows: Review the selected rows to identify which specific fields are causing the inconsistency. You can do this by checking the values of the entity type in question.
- Standardize Values: Once you identify the rows with differing values, you can either:
- Change the values in the rows to be consistent (e.g., make all values the same).
- Deselect the rows that have different values if they should not be processed together.
- Review Validation Rules: Check if there are any validation rules that are enforcing this consistency and adjust them if necessary, but be cautious as this may affect data integrity.
- Consult Documentation: Refer to the SAP documentation or help resources for specific guidance on the entity type in question and any related configuration settings.
Related Information:
If the issue persists after following these steps, it may be beneficial to consult with your SAP support team or a technical consultant who specializes in SAP MDG for further assistance.
