  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message USMD1123 - Deletion of change requests for data model &1 with status &2 completed ?

The SAP error message USMD1123 indicates that there is an attempt to delete change requests for a data model that is in a "completed" status. This error typically arises in the context of SAP Master Data Governance (MDG) when managing change requests for data models.

    Cause:

The primary cause of this error is that the change request you are trying to delete has already been completed. In SAP MDG, once a change request is completed, it is generally not allowed to delete it to maintain data integrity and audit trails. The system enforces this rule to prevent any unintended data loss or inconsistencies.

    Solution:

To resolve this error, you have a few options:

    1. Review Change Request Status: Check the status of the change request you are trying to delete. If it is indeed marked as "completed," you will not be able to delete it. You may need to consider other actions, such as archiving or managing the data differently.

    2. Use the Correct Process: If you need to make changes to the data model or the change request, consider creating a new change request instead of trying to delete the completed one. This way, you can manage the changes appropriately without violating the system's integrity rules.

    3. Consult Documentation: Refer to the SAP documentation or help resources for guidance on managing change requests in MDG. This can provide insights into best practices and alternative approaches.

    4. Contact SAP Support: If you believe that the error is occurring inappropriately or if you have specific business requirements that necessitate the deletion of completed change requests, consider reaching out to SAP support for assistance. They may provide additional options or configurations that can be applied.

    Related Information:

    • SAP MDG Documentation: Review the official SAP MDG documentation for detailed information on managing change requests and data models.
    • Change Request Lifecycle: Familiarize yourself with the lifecycle of change requests in SAP MDG, including statuses like "in process," "completed," and "archived."
    • Audit and Compliance: Understand the importance of maintaining a proper audit trail in your data governance processes, which is why deletions of completed requests are restricted.
