What causes this issue?

You cannot leave the Layout Builder because the layout you have just
processed is not complete.

System Response

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

How to fix this error?

Ensure that at least one element is placed in the lead column. If this
is not the case, select one or more characteristics for the lead
column, or check the field "Key figures in the lead column" and select
at least one key figure.
Ensure that at least one data column is created.
If you wish to leave processing of the layout without obtaining the
data, choose "Cancel".
