How To Fix UPE1099 - None of the characteristics in the package have a comment facility

What causes this issue?

You have attempted to display documents which are assigned to the
characteristics contained in the planning level. However the indicator
"comment facility" is not set for any of these characteristics. For
that reason, no documents can be displayed for the current settings.

System Response

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

How to fix this error?

In order to be able to display documents, first you must give at least
one of the characteristics in the planning level the "comment
facility". You do this with the <DS:TRAN.UIBW>function of the SEM-BIC
component</>. After that you can create new documents.
Though you must note the following special features:
The planning are must be assigned to an InfoCube from the same SAP BW
system which SEM-BIC refers to. The BW reference from SEM-BIC can be
regulated as follows:
If a RFC destination exists with the name <AB>SEM_BIC</>, SEM-BIC
refers to the BW system, to which a connection has been made using the
RFC destination. You can check the RFC destinations with the
<DS:TRAN.SM59>system administration network tools</>.
If no RFC destination exists with this name, SEM-BIC refers to the
system, where you are operating SEM.
The BW system, which SEM-BIC and the current planning area are
referring to, must have a release status of 2.0B or higher. Otherwise
SEM-BPS cannot determine whether a characteristic has the comment
facility or not.
If in addition to that you want to display documents, which fit the
restrictions of the characteristic values exactly, which were made in
the plannning level and package, you must make the corresponding
assignment in the <DS:TRAN.UIEWB>Editorial Workbench</> of the
component SEM-BIC.
