  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

Variable &V1& (&V3&) (planning area &V2& (&V4&)) is defined so that the
user must restrict the values of the variable (indicator 'Restriction
of values required by user' is set). However, you have not defined a
    restriction.

    How to fix this error?

Restrict the variable or change the definition of the variable so that
    restriction is no longer required.
To restrict the variable, choose <ZH>Goto -> Set variables</> and
search for variable &V1& (&V3&) in the list. Make the resriction and
    subsequently continue the planning session.
To change the variable definition, choose the tab page <ZH>Variables</>
in the context of planning area &V2& (&V4&) and reset the indicator
'Restriction of values required by user'.

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message UPC_FW111 - Restrict variable &1 (&3) (area &2 (&4)) to single value ?

The SAP error message UPC_FW111 typically occurs in the context of SAP BW (Business Warehouse) or SAP HANA when you are trying to execute a query or report that involves a variable that is expected to be restricted to a single value, but multiple values are being provided or selected.

    Cause:

The error message indicates that a variable (denoted as &1) is being used in a way that requires it to be restricted to a single value, but the current selection or input allows for multiple values. This can happen in various scenarios, such as:

    1. Multiple Selections: The user has selected multiple values for a variable that is defined to accept only a single value.
    2. Default Values: The default values for the variable may be set to multiple entries.
    3. Query Design: The query or report design may not be properly configured to handle multiple selections for that variable.

    Solution:

To resolve the UPC_FW111 error, you can take the following steps:

    1. Check Variable Settings:

      • Go to the variable settings in the query designer or report definition.
      • Ensure that the variable is set to allow only a single value. This can usually be configured in the variable properties.
    2. Modify User Input:

      • If you are executing a report or query, ensure that you are selecting only one value for the variable in question. If the interface allows for multiple selections, switch to single selection mode.
    3. Default Values:

      • Check if there are any default values set for the variable that might be causing multiple values to be selected. Adjust the default settings to ensure only one value is selected.
    4. Query Execution:

      • If you are executing a query, try running it again after ensuring that the variable is restricted to a single value.
    5. Testing:

      • After making the necessary changes, test the query or report again to confirm that the error has been resolved.
