The SAP error message UMK822, which states "Link between customer measure and provider measure required," typically occurs in the context of SAP's data management and reporting tools, particularly when dealing with measures in SAP BW (Business Warehouse) or SAP Analytics Cloud.

    Cause:

This error usually arises when there is a mismatch or a missing link between the measures defined in the customer (or user-defined) context and those in the provider (or data source). This can happen due to several reasons:

    1. Missing Mapping: The customer measure you are trying to use does not have a corresponding provider measure defined in the data source.
    2. Incorrect Configuration: The configuration settings for the measures may not be set up correctly, leading to a lack of linkage.
    3. Data Source Changes: If the underlying data source has been modified (e.g., measures added or removed), the existing links may become invalid.

    Solution:

To resolve the UMK822 error, you can follow these steps:

    1. Check Measure Definitions: Verify that the customer measure you are trying to use is correctly defined and that there is a corresponding provider measure in the data source.

    2. Create or Update Links:

      • Go to the measure configuration settings in your SAP BW or Analytics Cloud environment.
      • Ensure that the customer measure is linked to the appropriate provider measure. If it is not, create the necessary link.
    3. Review Data Source: Check the data source for any changes that may have occurred. If measures have been added or removed, update your customer measures accordingly.

    4. Revalidate the Model: If you are using a modeling tool, revalidate the model to ensure that all measures are correctly linked and that there are no other errors present.

    5. Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for specific guidance on measure configuration and linking, as the steps may vary depending on the version and specific setup of your SAP environment.

    6. Testing: After making the necessary changes, test the configuration to ensure that the error no longer appears and that the measures are functioning as expected.
