Message type: E = Error
Message class: UMGLOG - Message class for the SPUMG Main Log
Message number: 176
Message text: Table &1 is translation relevant but the text flag is not set.
The technical settings of table <(>&<)>V1& defines the table as
'relevant for translation'. But none of the existing language fields of
type 'LANG' has the 'Text Language attribute' set.
With its current definition, the table <(>&<)>V1& is converted to
Unicode with the system code page. Text data not belonging to the system
code page might be converted wrongly.
Check the contents of the affected table in transaction SE16. Text data
which have a different encoding than the system code page likely contain
specific Latin-1 characters such as German umlauts. No further action is
required if you cannot find such data.
If Latin-1 data exists you can set the 'Text Language attribute' for the
corresponding language field. After activation of the table, repeat the
SPUMG Consistency Check for the table. The table contents is then
converted according to the contents the language field instead of the
system codepage.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

UMGLOG176
- Table &1 is translation relevant but the text flag is not set. ?The SAP error message UMGLOG176 indicates that a specific table (denoted as &1 in the message) is considered translation relevant, but the text flag for that table has not been set. This typically occurs in the context of SAP's translation management, where certain tables are expected to contain translatable text but are not properly configured to allow for translations.
Cause:
- Translation Relevance: The table in question is marked as translation relevant, meaning it is expected to hold text that should be translatable into different languages.
- Missing Text Flag: The text flag (often referred to as the "translation flag") is not set for the table, which indicates that the system does not recognize it as a table that should support translations.
Solution:
To resolve this error, you need to ensure that the text flag is set for the relevant table. Here are the steps to do this:
Access the Table Definition:
- Use transaction code SE11 (Data Dictionary) to access the table definition.
- Enter the name of the table that is causing the error and click on "Display".
Check Table Attributes:
- In the table definition, check the attributes of the table.
- Look for the "Text Table" or "Translation Relevant" settings.
Set the Text Flag:
- If the table is indeed translation relevant, you need to set the appropriate flag to indicate that it should support translations.
- This may involve modifying the table definition to include a text table or adjusting the settings to mark it as translation relevant.
Transport Changes:
- If you are working in a development environment, ensure that any changes made are transported to the appropriate environments (e.g., quality assurance, production) as needed.
Testing:
- After making the changes, test the functionality that was causing the error to ensure that the issue has been resolved.
