What causes this issue?

The standard hierarchy character was already assigned to another
hierarchy.

System Response

The hierarchy is set as standard hierarchy. The previous standard
hierarchy becomes an alternative hierarchy.

How to fix this error?

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.
