  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

You have attempted to carry out a function that accesses data from the
Business Information Warehouse (BW). However, no logical RFC
destination could be determined to set up a link to a BW System.

    System Response

The function cannot be carried out.

    How to fix this error?

First, make sure that a physical RFC destination exists in your system
that allows access to a BW System. You can check this with the
    following transaction:
    <DS:TRAN.SM59>Display and Maintain RFC Destinations</>
Then you must maintain a logical RFC destination that refers to the
physical RFC destination. The logical RFC destinations are maintained
in different tables depending on the application you are using.
    Examples of this are:
    Application,,Table
    SEM-BPS,,UPC_BW_AREA
    SEM-CPM,,UMM_FR100

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

This error indicates that the system is unable to find a valid RFC destination for communication with the BW system.

    Cause:

    1. Missing RFC Destination: The logical RFC destination required for the BW system is not defined in the SAP system.
    2. Incorrect Configuration: The existing RFC destination may be incorrectly configured or inactive.

      • If it does not exist, you will need to create it.
    2. Create or Maintain RFC Destination:

      • If the RFC destination is missing, create a new one:
        • Click on "Create" and enter the necessary details such as the target host, system number, and other relevant parameters.
        • Ensure that the connection type is set correctly (usually "3" for TCP/IP connections).
      • If it exists but is not working, check the configuration settings and ensure they are correct.
    3. Test the RFC Connection:

      • After creating or modifying the RFC destination, use the "Test Connection" feature in SM59 to verify that the connection to the BW system is successful.
    4. Check Authorizations:

      • Ensure that the user has the necessary authorizations to access the RFC destination. This may involve checking roles and profiles assigned to the user.
    5. Check Network Connectivity:

      • Ensure that there are no network issues preventing the SAP system from reaching the BW system. This may involve checking firewalls, network routes, and other connectivity issues.
