Message text: The entity type is covering up an existing object
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.
When a new entity type is inserted, it is placed over an existing
entity type or specialization category. The object that it covers is,
therefore, not visible after the new entity type is saved.
After the entity type has been inserted, the objects can be separated
again. To do so, move the visible entity type using the left mouse
button.

UD621
- The entity type is covering up an existing object ?The SAP error message UD621, which states "The entity type is covering up an existing object," typically occurs in the context of data modeling or when working with the SAP Business Application Studio or SAP HANA. This error indicates that there is a conflict between the entity type you are trying to create or modify and an existing object in the system.
Cause:
- Naming Conflict: The entity type you are trying to create has the same name as an existing object (like a table, view, or another entity type) in the database or the data model.
- Namespace Issues: If you are working in a multi-tenant environment or using different namespaces, the entity type might be conflicting with an object in another namespace.
- Modeling Errors: There may be issues in the data model where the entity type is incorrectly defined or overlaps with existing definitions.
Solution:
- Rename the Entity Type: Change the name of the entity type you are trying to create to something unique that does not conflict with existing objects.
- Check Existing Objects: Review the existing objects in your database or data model to identify any naming conflicts. You can use transaction codes like SE11 (Data Dictionary) or SE80 (Object Navigator) to explore existing objects.
- Namespace Management: If applicable, ensure that you are using the correct namespace for your entity type to avoid conflicts with other objects.
- Review Data Model: Ensure that your data model is correctly defined and does not have overlapping definitions. Validate the model to check for any inconsistencies.
- Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or community forums for specific guidance related to your version of SAP and the context in which you are working.
