Message text: First 14 positions of the name identical to an existing entity type
The first eight characters of the selected name are identical to the
name of an existing entity type.
This could lead to problems when assigning the name of an entity view as
standard entity view names are formed according to the rule "U_
<entity_type>" and can be a maximum of 16 characters long. The name of
the entity type is abbreviated to 14 characters.
You have the option of overwriting the system default when assigning a
view and resolving the name conflict in this way.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.
Choose a new name or press ENTER to confirm your original selection. If
you opt for your original choice of name, remember to change the name
defaulted by the system if you assign an entity view.

UD053
- First 14 positions of the name identical to an existing entity type ?The SAP error message UD053, which states "First 14 positions of the name identical to an existing entity type," typically occurs when you are trying to create a new entity (such as a data element, domain, or other object) in the SAP system, and the name you are using for the new entity is too similar to an existing entity. Specifically, the first 14 characters of the new name match those of an existing entity.
Cause:
- Naming Convention Violation: SAP has specific naming conventions and restrictions to avoid conflicts and ensure uniqueness. The first 14 characters of the name must be unique across the system.
- Existing Entity: There is already an entity (like a data element, domain, or table) in the system with a name that shares the same first 14 characters as the one you are trying to create.
Solution:
- Change the Name: Modify the name of the new entity you are trying to create. Ensure that the first 14 characters are unique compared to existing entities in the system.
- Check Existing Entities: Before creating a new entity, check the existing entities in the system to see if there are any that have similar names. You can use transaction codes like SE11 (Data Dictionary) or SE80 (Object Navigator) to search for existing objects.
- Use a Naming Convention: Adopt a consistent naming convention that helps avoid such conflicts. For example, you might include a prefix or suffix that is unique to your development or project.
