This error indicates that there are duplicate or conflicting task or task group IDs within the task hierarchy, which can lead to confusion in task assignment and tracking.
Cause:
- Duplicate IDs: The most common cause is that there are two or more tasks or task groups with the same ID in the hierarchy.
- Incorrect Hierarchy Structure: The structure of the task hierarchy may not be properly defined, leading to ambiguity in task identification.
- Data Migration Issues: If data has been migrated from another system or if there have been recent changes to the task structure, it may have introduced duplicates or conflicts.

Solution:
Identify Duplicates:
- Use transaction codes like
SE16
orSE11
to access the relevant database tables (e.g.,TCU_TASKS
,TCU_TASK_GROUPS
) and check for duplicate entries.- You can also use reports or queries to list all task IDs and identify duplicates.
Correct the Hierarchy:
- Once duplicates are identified, you can either rename or delete the conflicting tasks or task groups to ensure that each ID is unique.
- Ensure that the hierarchy is structured correctly, with clear parent-child relationships.
Review Data Migration:
- If the issue arose after a data migration, review the migration process to ensure that it correctly handled task IDs and did not introduce duplicates.
Consult Documentation:
- Refer to SAP documentation or support notes related to task management and hierarchy structures for additional guidance.
Testing:
- After making changes, test the task hierarchy to ensure that the error is resolved and that tasks can be assigned and tracked correctly.
