Message type: E = Error
Message class: UCT8 - Message class for UCT8(mapping)
Message number: 007
Message text: Cannot determine source context
The system requires the source context to derive the source selection fo
r mapping rules with the <LS>Condition</>or <LS>Reassignment</>
operators. If the source context cannot be determined, the source
selection result may be incorrect. The system is able to determine the
source context when the source fields for the version and time (for
example, fiscal year and posting period) are known in the system.
Error messages are issued when you try to save the method Customizing
settings or when you execute the data collection task.
If the source is a <zh>consolidation area</>, you need to define mapping
rules that use the source fields for version <zh>and</> time.
If the source is a <zh>source data basis</>, you need to define mapping
rules that use the source fields for version <zh>or</> time.
When these prerequisites are met, the system is able to determine the
source fields for version or time for the source selection by inverting
the mapping rules from the target fields.
<zh>Note:</> The system issues an error message if the inversion of the
source fields for version or time produces ambiguous values (for
example, if mu
ltiple periods are determined for the posting period). In this case, you
need to adjust the Customizing settings for the mapping rule that uses
the version or the time as the source field.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

SAP messages fall into 3 different categories: Error messages
(message type = E), Warnings (W) or Informational (I) messages.
An error message will prevent you from continuing your work - it is a hard stop and you need to fix the error before you can proceed. A warning message will stop your work, however, you can then bypass the warning by pressing the Enter key on your keyboard. That said, it is still good practice to investigate the cause of the warning message and address it. An information message will not stop your work and is truly just for informational purposes.
