  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message UCF6872 - Sequence of activities cannot be resorted locally ?

The SAP error message UCF6872, "Sequence of activities cannot be resorted locally," typically occurs in the context of project management or process management within SAP, particularly when dealing with the Project System (PS) or similar modules. This error indicates that the system is unable to reorder activities in a project or process due to certain constraints or dependencies.

    Cause:

    1. Dependencies: The activities may have dependencies that prevent them from being reordered. For example, if an activity is dependent on the completion of another, the system will not allow you to change their sequence.
    2. Status of Activities: If some activities are already in progress or completed, the system may restrict changes to their sequence.
    3. Project Structure: The overall structure of the project may impose restrictions on how activities can be sequenced.
    4. Local vs. Global Settings: The error may arise if there are local settings that conflict with global project settings, preventing local reordering.

    Solution:

    1. Check Dependencies: Review the dependencies between activities. Ensure that there are no constraints that would prevent the reordering of the activities.
    2. Activity Status: Verify the status of the activities involved. If any activity is in progress or completed, consider whether it is appropriate to change the sequence.
    3. Use Global Settings: If local reordering is not possible, consider using global project settings or configurations that allow for the desired sequence.
    4. Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for specific guidelines on managing activity sequences in your version of SAP.
    5. Contact Support: If the issue persists, consider reaching out to your SAP support team or consulting with an SAP expert who can provide insights based on your specific configuration and project setup.
