  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

You attempted to copy a cost estimate in the working environment.
As the system always attempts to insert the new generated copy as a
subobject under the element when copying a cost estimate, the
destination of the copy is implicitly determined by the operation steps
    you have executed.
You have entered the cost estimate to be copied (source) as the target.
However, this would result in a circular structure that the system
    cannot process.

    System Response

You cannot create the copy in the current position.

    How to fix this error?

Choose the menu function <ZH>Copy</> from the context menu of an element
that is different from the element that you want to copy.

    Procedure for System Administrators

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message UAMO019 - Source and target of copy must be different ?

The SAP error message UAMO019 ("Source and target of copy must be different") typically occurs in the context of user administration, particularly when trying to copy user profiles or roles within the SAP system. This error indicates that the source and target objects (such as user IDs, roles, or profiles) you are trying to copy are the same, which is not allowed.

    Cause:

    The error arises when:

    • You attempt to copy a user profile or role to itself. For example, if you are trying to copy user USER1 to USER1, the system will throw this error because it does not make sense to copy an object to itself.

    Solution:

To resolve this error, you should:

    1. Check the Source and Target: Ensure that the source and target identifiers (user IDs, roles, or profiles) are different. For instance, if you are copying from USER1, make sure the target is a different user, such as USER2.
    2. Correct the Input: If you mistakenly entered the same user or role in both fields, correct the input to specify a different target.
    3. Review the Copy Process: If you are using a program or transaction to perform the copy, double-check the parameters you are passing to ensure they are set correctly.

    • Transaction Codes: This error may occur in various transactions related to user management, such as SU01 (User Maintenance), PFCG (Role Maintenance), or SU10 (Mass User Maintenance).
