What causes this issue?

After calling event R976, the items OPUPW: &V1&, OPUPK: &V2&, OPUPZ:
&V3& could not be found.
These fields may have been changed in event R976. This is not
permissible.

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

How to fix this error?

If you use your own function module in event R976, correct it.
If you use the function module delivered by SAP, create a problem
message.
