  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message TR505 - Conflict check not possible for &1 due to change in table structure ?

The SAP error message TR505 indicates that there is a conflict in the transport request due to a change in the table structure. This typically occurs when there are inconsistencies between the transport request and the underlying database structure, often as a result of changes made to the database tables or structures after the transport request was created.

    Cause:

    1. Table Structure Changes: The most common cause of this error is that the structure of a table has been modified (e.g., fields added, removed, or changed) after the transport request was created. This can happen if a developer makes changes directly in the database or if there are pending changes in the development environment that have not been transported yet.
    2. Inconsistent Transport Requests: If multiple transport requests are trying to modify the same object or if there are dependencies that are not resolved, this can lead to conflicts.
    3. Transport Order Issues: Sometimes, the order in which transport requests are released can lead to conflicts if one request depends on another that has not yet been transported.

    Solution:

    1. Check Table Structure: Review the changes made to the table structure in the development environment. Ensure that the changes are consistent with what is expected in the transport request.
    2. Recreate Transport Request: If the transport request is outdated or inconsistent, consider recreating it. This may involve re-adding the objects to a new transport request.
    3. Release Dependencies: Ensure that all dependent transport requests are released in the correct order. If there are other requests that need to be transported first, do so before attempting to transport the current request.
    4. Use Transaction SE01: You can use transaction SE01 (Transport Organizer) to analyze the transport requests and check for any inconsistencies or conflicts.
    5. Check for Locks: Sometimes, database locks can cause issues. Ensure that there are no locks on the objects you are trying to transport.
    6. Consult SAP Notes: Check the SAP Support Portal for any relevant SAP Notes that may address this specific error or provide additional guidance.

    Related Information:

    • Transport Management System (TMS): Understanding how TMS works can help in managing transport requests and resolving conflicts.
    • Change and Transport System (CTS): Familiarize yourself with CTS to better understand how changes are tracked and transported across different SAP environments.
    • SAP Basis Team: If you are unable to resolve the issue, it may be beneficial to involve your SAP Basis team, as they have the expertise in managing transport requests and database structures.

By following these steps, you should be able to identify the cause of the TR505 error and implement a solution to resolve it.
