  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message TN837 - Queue was defined but there is no import authorization ?

The SAP error message TN837 indicates that a queue has been defined, but there is no import authorization for that queue. This typically occurs in the context of SAP's transport management system (TMS), where changes or transports are being moved between different systems (e.g., from development to quality assurance or production).

    Cause:

The error can arise due to several reasons:

    1. Missing Authorizations: The user attempting to import the transport does not have the necessary authorizations to perform the import operation for the specified queue.
    2. Queue Configuration: The transport queue may not be properly configured, or the user may not be assigned to the correct transport route.
    3. Transport Layer Issues: There may be issues with the transport layer settings that prevent the import from being authorized.

    Solution:

To resolve the TN837 error, you can take the following steps:

    1. Check User Authorizations:

      • Ensure that the user has the necessary authorizations to import transports. This typically involves checking the user's roles and profiles in the SAP system.
      • The user should have the appropriate authorizations for the transport management system, such as S_TRANSPRT for transport-related activities.
    2. Review Transport Queue Configuration:

      • Go to the Transport Management System (TMS) configuration and verify that the transport queue is correctly set up.
      • Ensure that the user is assigned to the correct transport route and that the queue is active.
    3. Check Transport Layer Settings:

      • Verify the transport layer settings in TMS. Ensure that the transport layer is correctly defined and that the user has the necessary authorizations for that layer.
    4. Consult with Basis Team:

      • If you are not able to resolve the issue, consult with your SAP Basis team. They can help check the transport configuration and user authorizations in more detail.
    5. Use Transaction Codes:

      • You can use transaction codes like STMS to access the Transport Management System and check the status of the transport queues.
      • Use SU53 to analyze authorization issues after the error occurs. This transaction shows the last authorization check and can help identify missing authorizations.

    Related Information:

    • Transport Management System (TMS): This is the component of SAP that manages the transport of changes between different SAP systems.
    • Authorization Objects: Familiarize yourself with the relevant authorization objects related to transport management, such as S_TRANSPRT, which controls access to transport activities.
    • SAP Notes: Check SAP Notes for any specific fixes or updates related to the TN837 error. SAP frequently releases notes that address known issues and provide solutions.

By following these steps, you should be able to identify and resolve the TN837 error in your SAP system.
