How To Fix TN595 - Optimization of the import queue requires &1 MB of memory

SAP Error Message - Details

  • Message type: E = Error

  • Message class: TN - Support Package Manager (SPAM) Messages

  • Message number: 595

  • Message text: Optimization of the import queue requires &1 MB of memory

  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

To optimize the import queue you require &V1& MB of main memory space.
The call to optimize the import queue takes place with a
parameterization after which only &V2& MB main memory space is to be
used. This is not however not possible due to the size of the import
    queue.

    System Response

The optimization of the import queue is executed with &V1& MB main
memory space that is actually required.

    How to fix this error?

If the optimization of the import queue was completed successfully then
    you can ignore this message.
If the optimization of the import queue is canceled due to a lack of
main memory space, proceed as follows:
Start the Support Package Manager (transaction SPAM) and choose the
"Execute in Background" option. There is usually more main memory
available for SAP background processes than dialog processes.
Start the Support Package Manager (transaction SPAM) on an application
server where more main memory is available or increase the memory space
availablez to the SAP work processes on the current application server.
Contact you system administrator for this.

    Procedure for System Administrators

The &V1& MB main memory requirement named in the message does not fully
describe the main memory allocated by the work process since the work
process needs even more memory for internal processes. The value is only
    a lower guide value.
Check and adjust the following system profile parameters. When changing
system profile parameters, note the memory administration
recommendations in the SAP NetWeaver Library:
    For dialog processes:
    abap/heap_area_dia
    abap/heap_area_total
    em/initial_size_MB
    For background processes:
    abap/heap_area_nondia
    abap/heap_area_total
    em/initial_size_MB

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message TN595 - Optimization of the import queue requires &1 MB of memory ?

The SAP error message TN595 indicates that the system requires a certain amount of memory (specified as &1 MB) to optimize the import queue. This typically occurs when the system is trying to process a large number of transport requests or when the import queue is particularly large.

    Cause:

    1. Insufficient Memory: The most common cause of this error is that the SAP system does not have enough memory allocated to handle the optimization of the import queue.
    2. Large Import Queue: If there are many transport requests waiting to be imported, the system may require more memory to process them efficiently.
    3. System Configuration: The configuration settings for memory allocation in the SAP system may not be optimized for the current workload.

    Solution:

    1. Increase Memory Allocation:

      • You can increase the memory allocation for the SAP system. This can be done by adjusting the profile parameters in the instance profile (e.g., abap/heap_area_dia, abap/heap_area_nondia, rdisp/PG_MAXFS).
      • After making changes, restart the SAP instance for the changes to take effect.
    2. Optimize Import Queue:

      • Review the import queue and see if there are any unnecessary transport requests that can be deleted or processed.
      • You can use transaction STMS to manage the transport directory and import queue.
    3. Check System Resources:

      • Monitor the system resources (CPU, memory, disk space) to ensure that the server is not under heavy load.
      • Use transaction SM50 to check the work processes and their status.
    4. Adjust Transport Settings:

      • If the issue persists, consider adjusting the transport settings in the Transport Management System (TMS) to better handle the load.
    5. Consult SAP Notes:

      • Check for any relevant SAP Notes that may provide additional guidance or patches related to this error message.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes:
      • STMS: Transport Management System
      • SM50: Monitor Work Processes
      • RZ10: Profile Parameter Maintenance
    • SAP Documentation: Refer to the official SAP Help Portal for documentation on memory management and transport management.
    • Performance Monitoring: Regularly monitor system performance and memory usage to prevent similar issues in the future.

If the problem persists after trying these solutions, it may be beneficial to consult with your SAP Basis team or reach out to SAP support for further assistance.
