  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message TL039 - Import rejected; there are still import jobs that have not been processed ?

The SAP error message TL039 ("Import rejected; there are still import jobs that have not been processed") typically occurs in the context of transport management within SAP systems. This error indicates that there are pending import jobs that need to be processed before the current import can proceed. Here’s a breakdown of the cause, potential solutions, and related information:

    Cause:

    1. Pending Import Jobs: The primary cause of this error is that there are one or more transport requests that are still in the queue and have not been processed. This can happen if:

      • Previous transport requests are still in the import queue.
      • There are locks on the transport requests.
      • The transport directory is not properly configured or accessible.
    2. Transport Layer Issues: Sometimes, issues with the transport layer configuration can lead to this error, especially if the transport routes are not set up correctly.

    3. System Locking: If the system is locked for maintenance or if there are other administrative tasks being performed, it may prevent the import of new transport requests.

    Solution:

    1. Check Import Queue:

      • Go to transaction code STMS (Transport Management System).
      • Check the import queue for the system where you are trying to import the transport request.
      • Ensure that all previous transport requests have been processed or are in a state that allows for further processing.
    2. Process Pending Requests:

      • If there are pending requests, you may need to process them first. You can do this by selecting the requests and choosing to import them.
      • If a request is stuck, you may need to analyze the logs to determine why it is not processing.
    3. Check for Locks:

      • Use transaction code SM12 to check for any locks that might be preventing the import jobs from being processed.
      • If you find locks that are no longer needed, you can delete them (ensure you have the necessary authorizations).
    4. Review Transport Directory:

      • Ensure that the transport directory is correctly configured and accessible. You can check the transport directory settings in transaction STMS under the "Overview" section.
    5. System Maintenance:

      • If the system is undergoing maintenance, wait until the maintenance is complete before attempting to import the transport request again.
    6. Consult Logs:

      • Check the transport logs for any additional error messages or warnings that might provide more context on the issue.

    Related Information:

    • Transport Management System (TMS): Understanding how TMS works is crucial for managing transports effectively. Familiarize yourself with the TMS configuration and transport routes.
    • Transport Request Types: Different types of transport requests (e.g., customizing, workbench) may have different processing rules and implications.
    • SAP Notes: Check SAP Notes for any known issues or patches related to transport management and the specific error message TL039.
    • Documentation: Refer to SAP Help documentation for detailed guidance on transport management and troubleshooting transport-related issues.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the TL039 error and successfully import your transport requests.
