TK870
- Select a valid object type (lockable objects only) ?The SAP error message TK870: Select a valid object type (lockable objects only) typically occurs when you are trying to perform an action that requires a lockable object type, but the object type you have selected is not valid for that operation. This error is often encountered in transaction codes related to transport management, such as when working with transport requests or managing objects in the Transport Organizer.
Cause:
- Invalid Object Type: The object type you are trying to select is not a lockable object. In SAP, only certain object types can be locked for transport or modification.
- Configuration Issues: There may be configuration issues in the system that prevent the selection of valid object types.
- User Authorization: The user may not have the necessary authorizations to access or lock the selected object type.
Solution:
Select a Valid Object Type: Ensure that you are selecting an object type that is lockable. Common lockable object types include:
- ABAP programs
- Function modules
- Classes
- Database tables
- Views
- Other development objects
Check Object Type Configuration: If you believe the object type should be lockable, check the configuration settings in the system. This may involve looking at the transport domain configuration or the object type settings in the Transport Organizer.
User Authorizations: Verify that your user account has the necessary authorizations to work with the selected object type. You may need to consult with your SAP security team to ensure you have the appropriate roles assigned.
Use Transaction SE03: You can use transaction SE03 (Transport Organizer Tools) to check the transport requests and object types. This transaction provides tools to analyze and manage transport objects.
Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for specific details about the object types and their lockability.
