Message type: E = Error
Message class: TK - Transport Organizer
Message number: 517
Message text: Request &1 can only be edited in its source client &2
You wanted to edit a request that is from client &V2&. To enable this,
you tried to transfer the request to the current client.
The source client of a request, however, can only be changed if the
request does not contain any client-specific objects.
However, request &V1& contains at least one client-specific object
"&V3&".
The source client is not changed.
Edit the request in its source client "&V2&".
If it really is necessary to transfer the request, you must first
delete all client-specific objects from the request. You then have to
include the objects in the request according to the new client.

- Request &1 can only be edited in its source client &2 ?The SAP error message TK517 indicates that a transport request (denoted as &1) can only be edited in its source client (denoted as &2). This typically occurs when you are trying to modify or release a transport request in a client that is not the original source client where the request was created.
Cause:
- Client-Specific Transport Requests: The transport request was created in a specific client (source client) and is intended to be managed only within that client. SAP restricts editing of the request in other clients to maintain data integrity and consistency.
- Transport Layer Configuration: The transport layer may be configured in such a way that it restricts access to certain clients for editing transport requests.
- User Authorizations: The user may not have the necessary authorizations to edit the transport request in the current client.
Solution:
- Switch to the Source Client: Log in to the source client (client &2) where the transport request was originally created. You can then edit or release the transport request as needed.
- Check Transport Layer Settings: If you need to edit the transport request in a different client, you may need to review the transport layer settings and configurations. This may require assistance from your SAP Basis team.
- User Authorizations: Ensure that the user has the necessary authorizations to edit transport requests in the relevant clients. This may involve checking roles and permissions assigned to the user.
- Transport Management System (TMS): If you are using TMS, ensure that the transport routes and configurations are correctly set up to allow for the necessary operations across clients.
