SAP Error Message - Details

  • Message type: E = Error

  • Message class: TK - Transport Organizer

  • Message number: 438

  • Message text: &1 cannot be added to a request/task

  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

This error only occurs at SAP in client "000".
    Background:
The entire Customizing for SAP should take place in system K11. The
initial setting is normally made by the developer himself, in client
"000". All later settings, that are transported to the customer, must
be made in the Customizing client "100".
To ensure that the customer settings in each Customizing table are only
created in exactly one of the two clients, the transfer table CUTEXAS
    was defined and filled.
Each table that is entered in the transfer table CUTEXAS can no longer
be entered in a Transport Organizer request/task in client "000"
(Effect: No export allowed for client "000").
All changes to the object &V2& &V3& &V1& in client "000" are not
    recorded by the Transport Organizer.
The object &V2& &V3& &V1&, that you requested, is in table CUTEXAS and
can therefore not be included in a request/task in client "000".

    System Response

    The function terminates.

    How to fix this error?

If you still want to export the Customizing settings from client "000",
then inform the people responsible for the Customizing and, if
required, delete the relevant entry from the transfer table CUTEXAS.
    Then repeat your function.
Alternatively, end the attempt to include the object in your request/
task. To do this, use the function <LS>Delete entry</> in the editor of
    Transport Organizer.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message TK438 - &1 cannot be added to a request/task ?

The SAP error message TK438 indicates that a specific object (like a transport request or task) cannot be added to a transport request or task. This error typically arises in the context of SAP transport management, where changes made in the development environment need to be transported to other environments (like quality assurance or production).

    Cause:

The error TK438 can occur due to several reasons, including:

    1. Object Already in a Different Request: The object you are trying to add is already included in another transport request or task. SAP does not allow the same object to be included in multiple requests simultaneously.

    2. Transport Request Status: The transport request you are trying to add the object to may be in a status that does not allow adding new objects (e.g., it might be released).

    3. Object Type Restrictions: Certain object types may have restrictions on how they can be transported or added to requests.

    4. Authorization Issues: The user may not have the necessary authorizations to add objects to the transport request.

    5. System Configuration: There may be configuration issues in the transport management system that prevent the addition of objects.

    Solution:

To resolve the TK438 error, you can take the following steps:

    1. Check Existing Transport Requests: Verify if the object is already included in another transport request. You can use transaction SE01 or SE09 to check the transport requests.

    2. Release or Change Status: If the transport request is in a status that does not allow adding objects, consider changing its status or creating a new transport request.

    3. Use a New Transport Request: If the object is already in another request, you may need to create a new transport request for the changes you want to make.

    4. Check Authorizations: Ensure that you have the necessary authorizations to add objects to the transport request. You may need to consult with your SAP security team.

    5. Consult SAP Notes: Check for any relevant SAP Notes that might address this specific error or provide additional guidance.

    6. System Configuration Review: If the issue persists, it may be necessary to review the transport management configuration in your SAP system.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: Familiarize yourself with transaction codes like SE01 (Transport Organizer), SE09 (Workbench Organizer), and SE10 (Customizing Organizer) for managing transport requests.
    • SAP Notes: Search the SAP Support Portal for notes related to TK438 for any specific patches or updates that may resolve the issue.
    • Documentation: Review SAP documentation on transport management for best practices and guidelines on handling transport requests and tasks.
