  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

A dependency exists between the project status switch for the project
object list and the project intersections. If the project object list is
not updated, then no conflicts with other projects can be identified
    (invalid setting).
    The following settings are valid:
Project Object List ,, Project Intersection,,Description
    on,, on,,Standard
    on,, off,,No intersections
    off,, off,,Permanent project
    off,, on,,Invalid setting

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

    Description of Settings
Standard: The objects in the requests of a project are placed in the
project object list. If objects are edited in two projects, a sequence
is proposed between the requests of different projects.
No intersections: As with the standard setting, the project object list
contains all objects edited in the requests of a project. Objects
included in two projects are no longer serialized by the requests.
Permanent project: The project has no planned end, and is used mainly to
select the requests in the import queue of the follow-on system. The
project object list is not updated, and there is no dependency check
    between projects.
Invalid setting: No dependency check can be made between projects
    without a project object list

    System Response

Your change is an invalid setting, which is rejected.

    How to fix this error?

Change the switches in a different order, or change multiple switches
simultaneously, so that the setting is valid.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message TK163 - Dependencies between switches not fulfilled (see long text) ?

The SAP error message TK163, which states "Dependencies between switches not fulfilled (see long text)," typically occurs in the context of transport management within SAP systems. This error indicates that there are dependencies between transport requests (switches) that have not been satisfied, which can prevent the transport from being executed successfully.

    Cause:

The error is usually caused by one or more of the following reasons:

    1. Missing Dependencies: The transport request you are trying to release or import has dependencies on other transport requests that have not yet been released or imported.
    2. Incorrect Sequence: The transport requests are not in the correct sequence. For example, a transport request that depends on another request cannot be imported until the dependent request has been successfully imported.
    3. Configuration Issues: There may be configuration issues in the transport landscape that are causing the dependencies to be mismanaged.

    Solution:

To resolve the TK163 error, you can follow these steps:

    1. Check Transport Dependencies:

      • Use transaction code SE01 or SE09 to view the transport requests.
      • Check the long text of the error message for specific details about which transport requests are causing the issue.
      • Identify the transport requests that are dependencies for the one you are trying to import.
    2. Release or Import Dependencies:

      • Ensure that all dependent transport requests are released and imported into the target system before attempting to import the main transport request again.
    3. Review Transport Sequence:

      • Make sure that the transport requests are in the correct order. If necessary, adjust the sequence of imports to satisfy the dependencies.
    4. Use Transport Organizer:

      • Use the Transport Organizer (transaction SE09 or SE10) to analyze the transport requests and their dependencies. This tool can help you visualize the relationships between different requests.
    5. Consult Documentation:

      • Refer to SAP documentation or notes related to transport management for additional guidance on handling dependencies.
    6. Contact SAP Support:

      • If the issue persists and you cannot identify the dependencies, consider reaching out to SAP support for assistance.

    Related Information:

    • Transport Management System (TMS): Understanding how TMS works can help you manage transport requests and their dependencies more effectively.
    • Transport Request Types: Familiarize yourself with different types of transport requests (e.g., customizing, workbench) and how they interact.
    • SAP Notes: Check for any relevant SAP Notes that may address known issues or provide additional solutions related to transport dependencies.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the TK163 error and successfully manage your transport requests in SAP.
