TG153
- Log cannot be written (existence? authorization?) ?The SAP error message TG153, which states "Log cannot be written (existence? authorization?)", typically indicates an issue related to logging in the SAP system. This error can arise due to several reasons, primarily concerning the existence of the log file or the necessary authorizations to write to it.
Causes:
- Log File Does Not Exist: The system may be trying to write to a log file that has not been created or is missing.
- Authorization Issues: The user or process attempting to write to the log may not have the necessary authorizations to do so.
- File System Issues: There may be issues with the underlying file system, such as insufficient disk space or file system permissions.
- Configuration Issues: The logging configuration in the SAP system may not be set up correctly.
Solutions:
Check Log File Existence:
- Verify if the log file that the system is trying to write to exists. If it does not, you may need to create it or check the configuration that specifies where logs should be written.
Review Authorizations:
- Ensure that the user or process has the necessary authorizations to write to the log. You can check the authorization objects related to logging and ensure that the user has the required permissions.
Check Disk Space:
- Ensure that there is sufficient disk space on the server where the log files are stored. If the disk is full, the system will not be able to write new log entries.
File System Permissions:
- Check the file system permissions for the directory where the logs are stored. Ensure that the SAP user has write permissions to that directory.
Review Configuration:
- Check the configuration settings for logging in the SAP system. This may involve looking at transaction codes like
SM21
(System Log) orSLG1
(Application Log) to see if there are any misconfigurations.Restart Services:
- In some cases, restarting the relevant SAP services or the entire SAP system may resolve temporary issues related to logging.
