Message text: Format '&' is dominant
You have tried to delete the conversion of a dominant format.
When an MS Word document template is generated, the format information
from the style sheet, the leader of the RTF file, is evaluated. All
characters and paragraphs marked as dominant in the conversion are
entered in this style sheet with the formats they have in SAPscript.
Several SAPscript formats can be mapped to a single Word format,
however the formatting information is taken from the format which has
the "dominant" flag. For this reason, there can only be one dominant
source format which is used to create the document template under a
particular target format name.
In the case involved here, you wanted to delete this specific SAPscript
format with the flag "dominant". First change this attribute and then
select another format which is to be given the dominant attribute.

- Format '&' is dominant ?The SAP error message TD851, which states "Format '&' is dominant," typically occurs in the context of SAPscript or Smart Forms when there is an issue with the formatting of text elements. This error indicates that there is a conflict in the formatting specifications, particularly when different formats are applied to the same text element.
Cause:
- Conflicting Formats: The error arises when multiple formatting options are applied to a text element, and one format is considered dominant over the others. For example, if you have a text element that is set to bold and italic at the same time, the system may not be able to determine which format to apply.
- Incorrect Use of Formatting Commands: If the formatting commands are not used correctly or are nested improperly, it can lead to this error.
- Inconsistent Formatting in Text Elements: If you are using different formats in a single text element or across multiple text elements that are supposed to be consistent, it can trigger this error.
Solution:
- Review Formatting: Check the text elements in your SAPscript or Smart Form. Ensure that you are not applying conflicting formats to the same text. For example, avoid using both bold and italic on the same text segment unless it is supported.
- Simplify Formatting: If possible, simplify the formatting by using a single format for each text element. This can help avoid conflicts.
- Check for Nested Formats: If you are using nested formatting commands, ensure that they are correctly structured and do not conflict with each other.
- Test Changes: After making adjustments, test the output to ensure that the error is resolved and that the formatting appears as intended.
