Message type: E = Error
Message class: TA - Extended table maintenance (eval., Customizing, client copy)
Message number: 292
Message text: Profile SAP_RECO not allowed: Source client <> target client
The copy profile 'SAP_RECO' contains change documents and can be used
to recreate a production client.
You should only copy change documents if the target client number is
the same as the source client number. If the clients are not the same,
the change documents are worthless and they could even crash
application transactions.
If the source client in the RFC destination is not the same as the
target client, you must use another copy profile.

TA292
- Profile SAP_RECO not allowed: Source client <> target client ?The SAP error message TA292 indicates that there is an issue with the profile SAP_RECO when trying to perform a transport operation between different clients. This error typically occurs when the source client and target client are not compatible for the operation being attempted, particularly in the context of transport requests.
Cause:
The error message "Profile SAP_RECO not allowed: Source client <> target client" usually arises due to the following reasons:
Client-Specific Data: The transport request is trying to move client-specific data from one client to another, but the profile being used (SAP_RECO) does not allow this operation between the specified source and target clients.
Profile Restrictions: The SAP_RECO profile is designed for specific types of transports, and it may have restrictions on moving data between clients that are not aligned in terms of configuration or data consistency.
Transport Layer Configuration: There may be issues with the transport layer configuration that prevent the transport from being executed correctly.
Solution:
To resolve the TA292 error, you can consider the following steps:
Check Client Compatibility: Ensure that the source and target clients are compatible for the transport operation. If the data being transported is client-specific, it may need to be transported within the same client.
Use Appropriate Transport Profile: If the SAP_RECO profile is not suitable for the operation, consider using a different transport profile that allows for the movement of data between the specified clients.
Review Transport Request: Check the transport request to ensure that it is correctly configured and that it does not contain any client-specific objects that cannot be transported to the target client.
Consult Transport Management System (TMS): If you are unsure about the transport profiles and their configurations, consult with your SAP Basis team or refer to the Transport Management System (TMS) documentation for guidance.
Adjust Transport Layer Settings: If necessary, adjust the transport layer settings to allow for the transport of the required objects between the clients.
Testing: After making the necessary adjustments, perform a test transport to verify that the issue has been resolved.
