How To Fix TA265 - Client copy is now continued in parallel processes

SAP Error Message - Details

  • Message type: E = Error

  • Message class: TA - Extended table maintenance (eval., Customizing, client copy)

  • Message number: 265

  • Message text: Client copy is now continued in parallel processes

  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

You have selected the copy option "Parallel Processes".

    System Response

The system starts parallel copy processes to accelerate the copy. The
client copy log file tells you which process was started on which
    server.

    How to fix this error?

You can monitor the status of the copy with the transaction SCC3, which
is also the only way you can end the parallel processes, because they
restart each other when one process ends. If the copy gets this cancel
command, the processes end after they have finished copying the current
table. If this takes too long, you can end the processes - after
sending the cancel command - in the process overview (transaction
SM50). The process then ends after performing the current I/O.
You can only restart the copy when all processes have ended.

Smart SAP Assistant

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message TA265 - Client copy is now continued in parallel processes ?

The SAP error message TA265 indicates that a client copy process is being executed in parallel, which can lead to issues if multiple client copy processes are running simultaneously. This situation can arise due to various reasons, such as:

    Causes:

    1. Concurrent Client Copies: Multiple client copy jobs are initiated at the same time, which can happen if users are not aware that a client copy is already in progress.
    2. System Configuration: The system may be configured to allow multiple client copies, leading to conflicts.
    3. Job Scheduling: Jobs may be scheduled to run at the same time without proper checks in place to prevent overlaps.

    Solutions:

    1. Check Running Jobs: Use transaction code SM37 to check for any running client copy jobs. If you find that a client copy is already in progress, you may need to wait for it to complete before starting a new one.
    2. Cancel or Reschedule Jobs: If you find that there are unnecessary or stuck jobs, you can cancel them or reschedule them to avoid conflicts.
    3. System Configuration: Review the system settings to limit the number of concurrent client copies. This can often be configured in the system parameters.
    4. Communication: Ensure that all users are aware of the client copy processes being executed to prevent multiple initiations.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes:
      • SCCL for local client copy
      • SCC9 for remote client copy
      • SM37 for monitoring jobs
    • SAP Notes: Check for any relevant SAP Notes that may address specific issues related to client copies and parallel processing.
    • Documentation: Review SAP documentation on client copy processes for best practices and guidelines.

    Best Practices:

    • Always check the status of ongoing client copy processes before initiating a new one.
    • Implement a communication protocol among team members to avoid overlapping client copy jobs.
    • Regularly monitor and manage scheduled jobs to ensure they do not conflict with each other.

By following these steps, you can resolve the TA265 error and ensure smoother client copy operations in your SAP environment.
