Smart SAP Assistant

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message TA225 - Central user administration is active. User master data is not copied ?

The SAP error message TA225 indicates that Central User Administration (CUA) is active in your SAP system. When CUA is enabled, user master data is managed centrally, and therefore, it cannot be copied from one system to another. This is a common scenario in environments where multiple SAP systems are integrated, and user management is centralized.

    Cause:

    • Central User Administration (CUA) is Active: The primary cause of this error is that the CUA functionality is enabled in your SAP landscape. When CUA is active, user data is maintained in a central system, and local systems are not allowed to create or modify user master records independently.

    Solution:

To resolve this error, you have a couple of options depending on your requirements:

    1. Use Central User Administration:

      • If you want to continue using CUA, you should manage user master data through the central system. This means that any user creation, modification, or deletion should be done in the central system, and the changes will be propagated to the connected systems.
    2. Disable CUA:

      • If you do not need CUA and prefer to manage user data locally in each system, you can disable CUA. However, this is a significant change and should be carefully considered, as it may affect your user management processes. To disable CUA:
        • Go to transaction SUC_ADMIN in the central system.
        • Navigate to the CUA settings and disable the CUA functionality.
        • Note that this may require additional configuration and testing to ensure that user management works as expected in a decentralized manner.
    3. Check User Creation Process:

      • If you are trying to create a user in a child system, ensure that you are following the correct process for user creation in a CUA environment. Typically, you would create users in the central system, and they would be distributed to the child systems.

    Related Information:

    • Documentation: Refer to the SAP Help Portal for detailed documentation on Central User Administration and its configuration.
    • Transaction Codes:
      • SU01: User Maintenance
      • SUC_ADMIN: Central User Administration Administration
    • SAP Notes: Check for any relevant SAP Notes that may provide additional insights or updates regarding CUA and user management.

    Best Practices:

    • Ensure that all relevant stakeholders are aware of the user management strategy (centralized vs. decentralized).
    • Regularly review user access and roles to maintain security and compliance.
    • Test any changes in a development or quality assurance environment before applying them to production.

By following these guidelines, you should be able to address the TA225 error effectively.
