refreshed, which can take up to 24 hours.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message T9115 - Changes in customizing are not effective immediately ?

The SAP error message T9115, which states "Changes in customizing are not effective immediately," typically occurs when there are changes made in the SAP system's customizing settings that require a restart of the application or a specific transaction to take effect. This message is often seen in the context of configuration changes that are not applied until the system is refreshed or restarted.

    Cause:

    1. Customizing Changes: Changes made in the SAP Customizing settings (transaction SPRO) may not be immediately effective due to the way SAP caches certain settings.
    2. Buffering: SAP uses buffering for performance reasons, and some changes may not be reflected until the buffer is refreshed.
    3. Transaction Context: The error may occur if you are trying to execute a transaction that relies on the new settings without having restarted the session or transaction.

    Solution:

    1. Restart the Transaction: Close the current transaction and reopen it. This can help in refreshing the settings.
    2. Log Off and Log Back In: Sometimes, logging off from the SAP system and logging back in can clear the cache and apply the changes.
    3. Clear Buffer: If you have access, you can clear the buffer using transaction code SM12 or SM21 to ensure that the latest settings are being used.
    4. Check Transport Requests: If the changes were made in a development environment and need to be transported to a production environment, ensure that the transport requests are correctly imported.
    5. Consult Documentation: Review the SAP documentation or notes related to the specific customizing changes you made to see if there are any additional steps required.

    Related Information:

    • SAP Notes: Check SAP Notes for any specific issues related to the customizing changes you made. SAP frequently updates its knowledge base with solutions to common problems.
    • Transaction Codes: Familiarize yourself with relevant transaction codes such as SPRO (Customizing), SE09/SE10 (Transport Organizer), and SM30 (Table Maintenance).
    • System Logs: Review system logs (transaction SM21) for any additional error messages or warnings that may provide more context about the issue.
    • User Authorization: Ensure that you have the necessary authorizations to make and apply customizing changes.

If the problem persists after trying the above solutions, it may be beneficial to consult with your SAP Basis team or SAP support for further assistance.
