How To Fix SWDP_WB_TOOL269 - Subtree of &1 (child &3) not contained in &2. External mapping impossible

SAP Error Message - Details

  • Message type: E = Error

  • Message class: SWDP_WB_TOOL - Web Dynpro: Messages for Workbench Tools

  • Message number: 269

  • Message text: Subtree of &1 (child &3) not contained in &2. External mapping impossible

  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

External mapping to node &V2& should be defined for node &V1& of the
specified component usage. The mapping is not consistent, however: the
subtree of &V1& is not included fully in the subtree of &V2& and neither
subtree matches. "Included fully" means that each element in the subtree
of &V1& has to be included at the same hierarchical level in the subtree
of &V2&. The first difference was determined in the child element &V3&
    of node &V1&.

    System Response

    The system rejects the operation.

    How to fix this error?

Change the subtree for either &V1& or &V2& to enable consistent mapping.
You have to switch to the context editor to do this.

    Procedure for System Administrators

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message SWDP_WB_TOOL269 - Subtree of &1 (child &3) not contained in &2. External mapping impossible ?

The SAP error message SWDP_WB_TOOL269 indicates that there is an issue with the mapping of a subtree in the context of a Web Dynpro application. Specifically, it suggests that a child node (subtree) is not contained within the specified parent node, which makes external mapping impossible.

    Cause:

This error typically arises in the following scenarios:

    1. Incorrect Hierarchical Structure: The child node (subtree) you are trying to map does not belong to the specified parent node. This can happen if the structure of the data model has been altered or if there is a mismatch in the expected hierarchy.

    2. Model Changes: If there have been recent changes to the data model or the Web Dynpro component, it may lead to inconsistencies in the expected parent-child relationships.

    3. Configuration Issues: There may be configuration issues in the Web Dynpro application that prevent the correct mapping of nodes.

    Solution:

To resolve this error, you can take the following steps:

    1. Check Hierarchical Structure:

      • Verify the hierarchical structure of the data model. Ensure that the child node you are trying to map is indeed a child of the specified parent node.
      • Use transaction SWDD (Web Dynpro Workbench) to inspect the component and its structure.
    2. Review Changes:

      • If there have been recent changes to the data model or the Web Dynpro application, review those changes to ensure that they have not inadvertently broken the parent-child relationships.
    3. Adjust Mapping:

      • If the mapping is incorrect, adjust it to ensure that the child node is correctly associated with the parent node. This may involve modifying the data model or the mapping configuration.
    4. Rebuild the Application:

      • Sometimes, rebuilding the Web Dynpro application can help resolve inconsistencies. You can do this by activating the component again in the Web Dynpro Workbench.
    5. Check for External Mappings:

      • If you are using external mappings, ensure that the external data source is correctly configured and that it matches the expected structure of the Web Dynpro application.
    6. Consult Documentation:

      • Refer to SAP documentation or community forums for any specific notes or updates related to this error message, as there may be additional context or solutions provided by other users.
