SAP Error Message - Details

  • Message type: E = Error

  • Message class: STC_TM - Task List Manager Messages

  • Message number: 281

  • Message text: Task list &1 has changed; execution of run &2 denied

  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

The task list run has been created based on a different task list
    version.

    System Response

The execution of the task list run is rejected by default to avoid data
    loss.

    How to fix this error?

Check the software level of your system. To avoid data loss, the task
list run should only be continued if the current software level equals
the software level when the task list run has been created. The software
may have changed e.g. by applying SAP notes or support packages in
    between.
It is possible to continue the task list run execution. But then it is
very likely that the execution will lead to data loss because tasks are
missing in the old or new task list version or task implementations have
    changed.

The SAP error message STC_TM281 indicates that a task list has been modified after it was scheduled for execution, which leads to the denial of the execution of the run. This is a safeguard mechanism in SAP to prevent inconsistencies that could arise from executing a task list that has been altered.

    Cause:

    1. Modification of Task List: The task list referenced in the error message has been changed after it was scheduled for execution. This could happen if someone edited the task list or if there were changes in the underlying configuration or objects that the task list depends on.

    Solution:

    1. Review Changes: Check the change logs for the task list to identify what modifications were made. This can help determine if the changes were intentional or accidental.
    2. Re-schedule the Task List: If the task list has been modified, you will need to re-schedule the execution of the task list after ensuring that it is in the desired state.
    3. Locking Mechanism: Implement a locking mechanism or a change control process to prevent concurrent modifications to task lists that are scheduled for execution.
    4. Communication: Ensure that team members are aware of the task lists being worked on to avoid unintentional changes during execution windows.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: You can use transaction codes like STC01 (for managing task lists) and STC02 (for monitoring task runs) to investigate and manage task lists and their executions.
    • Change Logs: Check the change logs in the task list management area to see who made changes and what those changes were.
