SMAP019
- No reference object change authorization ?The SAP error message SMAP019, which states "No reference object change authorization," typically occurs when a user attempts to make changes to a reference object (such as a material, customer, vendor, etc.) but does not have the necessary authorization to do so. This can happen in various SAP modules, including Materials Management (MM), Sales and Distribution (SD), and others.
Cause:
- Authorization Issues: The user lacks the required authorization in their role/profile to change the reference object.
- Object-Specific Restrictions: There may be specific restrictions set up in the authorization objects that prevent changes to certain reference objects.
- Role Configuration: The user's assigned roles may not include the necessary permissions for the specific transaction or object type they are trying to modify.
Solution:
Check User Authorizations:
- Use transaction code SU53 immediately after the error occurs to analyze the authorization check. This will show which authorization object failed.
- Review the user's roles and authorizations in transaction SU01 or PFCG.
Modify Roles:
- If the user lacks the necessary authorization, a security administrator should modify the user's roles to include the required authorizations.
- Ensure that the relevant authorization objects (e.g.,
M_MATE_WRK
,M_MATE_DATA
, etc. for materials) are included in the user's role.Consult with Security Team:
- If you are not authorized to change roles, contact your SAP security team or administrator to request the necessary changes.
Testing:
- After changes are made, have the user log out and back in, then attempt the action again to see if the issue is resolved.
Related Information:
If the problem persists after checking and updating authorizations, further investigation may be required, potentially involving SAP support or consulting services.
