  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

The material description must not be changed in Portuguese or in the
logon language if the material has been used in documents that have been
posted with a Portuguese digital signature (in a Portuguese company code
or in a Portuguese organizational unit of a foreign company code). This
restriction applies to all changes, including the correction of
    descriptions containing errors.
When a user tries to change the description of a material, the system
    proceeds as follows:
The system checks if the material description exists in Portuguese. If
this is the case, the system blocks changes to the Portuguese
    description.
If a Portuguese description does not exist, the system checks if a
description exists in the logon language. If this is the case, the
system blocks changes to the description in the logon language.
Note that missing descriptions can always be entered, regardless of the
    logon language.

    System Response

If the system identifies that the material has been used in a document
with a Portuguese digital signature, it prevents the changes to the
    description.

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.
